Joe Schorr, the boss of photo applications at Apple, teases us with this tidbit on the Apple Discussion Forums:
This probably means an update to the whole of Mac OS X, which is where Apple puts these extras. This is a useful approach in some ways, as it means that one update gives RAW compatibility to iPhoto, Preview and anything else that uses standard frameworks. On the other hand, it means that new cameras go unsupported for a long time. Canon's G9, for example, which we reviewed back in September last year, still doesn't work in Aperture. Adobe's Lightroom, though, is updated quickly when important new cameras are released.
As for the "other exciting new features"? Don't expect MacBook Air multi touch support. Running Aperture on the slimline Mac would be too painful. The World's Thinnest Notebook is also the World's Slowest Mac.
